David McManus, Nick Heys and Karl Huish Recognized as Leaders in Captive Insurance Industry

Artex is pleased to announce that David McManus, President & CEO and Nick Heys, CEO of Artex International have been named to Captive Review’s Power 50 list, while Karl Huish, Executive Vice President-North America has been named to Captive Review’s ERC Pioneer list.

Captive Review, a niche publication and website dedicated to the interests of risk management and captive insurance publishes these lists annually. This is David’s third consecutive year on the list, which also lands him in the top 10 most influential captive professionals. In particular, David was recognized as “putting together a well-diversified and experienced captive team able to meet a variety of client needs.” David McManus states, “My movement up the list over the past three years corresponds with Artex’s growing influence within the industry. We’re among the top three largest captive managers in the world, with nearly 400 employees serving over 1,000 captive customers within 30 domiciles. We continue to strengthen our presence in North America and Europe, and we are committed to developing an increasing diverse set of alternative risk solutions for our global customers.”

Nick Heys, CEO of Artex International, is a first time entrant on the Power 50. Nick leads the International division of Artex which has seen significant growth in 2016 through the acquisitions of Kane’s insurance management operations, Hexagon PCC and Quest. Nick is noted for having his responsibilities “grown considerably during the past 12 months and he harbours ambitions to make Artex a captive player in Asia.” Nick Heys states, “It is an honor to be recognized by one’s peers and it has certainly been an exciting year for our division. We’ve expanded our teams with some exceptionally talented individuals in Bermuda, Cayman, Gibraltar and Guernsey. I’m looking forward to seeing where we go from here.”

For the second consecutive year, Captive Review has published a list of enterprise risk captive professionals who have impacted the industry for those captives who make the 831(b) tax election. Karl Huish was recognized for the second consecutive year as an ERC Pioneer, and additional recognition was given to his brother, Jeremy Huish, Senior Vice President – Captive Business Development, North America. Driving this acknowledgement was the fact that “both have been active in the lobbying and advocacy for greater help and guidance from the relevant authorities.” Karl states “Our industry has been under a great deal of scrutiny, especially over the past 12 months. However it is also a very exciting time. The evolution of this industry means that we’re continually able to provide creative solutions to our customers and help them solve their business challenges. Both Jeremy and I have dedicated our careers to this niche and we’re extremely proud to have been recognized by our peers.”
